In order to understand the future of crypto, one must first understand it's past.

Cryptocurrency was born out of cryptography which is likely as old as time itself. Cryptography has been used throughout history but it wasn't until the 1980's when it became a valuable tool in the digital world. Then beginning around 1990 it became encryption used for secure online transactions. It wasn't until 2008 when Satoshi Nakamoto (whose true identity remains unknown) published the white paper Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System, which describes the functionality of the Bitcoin blockchain network.

Anyone smart enough or lucky enough to start mining bitcoin back when it could still be done with a computer and graphics card is likely sitting on a large sum of money. That is of course if they didn't spend it on pizza!!
